Or search for Embroidery Emporium.  :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGHHHHH

Well this rant has been coming on now for quite some time, and yet another pointless comment over on a different website has made me loose my temper, and need to rant about it.

I post lots of photos of historical costume and embroidery in various stages of completion, here and on the various other sites I use on the internets.   Whilst some of them I am fortunate to of had taken at events, where the whole outfit is being worn in a totally period setting, a lot of the photos are obviously just quick snap shots taken of a work in progress, often to show one specific aspect of an outfit that I think looks good.  The whole photo is not meant to look *totally authentic*.  By the time the event comes around I will *obviously* not be wearing glasses, or have any modern jewellery on, or be in a room that has a TV and the likes.  *rolls eyes*

I am starting to get just a bit fed up of comments like "oohh the embroideries pretty but you you do know they wouldn't have worn glasses like that don't you?".  Well, yes.  Surprise, surprise, I am not an idiot and I *DID* know that my glasses were not worn in the Tudor period.  But, unfortunately I am totally blind without my glasses, therefore if I am trying to take a photo myself I will have them on, thank you very much.  I do not want to waste the contact lenses I buy in ready for events on taking a quick snap shot of one part of my costume.  I am sorry, but if you do not like this then look away.

I often take quick photos to show the embroidery on, for example, a photo of a newly embroidered partlet to show of it's finished blackwork, over my modern clothes.  Apparently it is not obvious to some, that this photo was not meant to look totally period.  Clearly I still have my glasses on, my hair is in whatever *modern* style I had it that day, and I'm probably wearing an oh so very Tudor Iron Maiden t-shirt.

It is not always possible, for many reasons, to get a totally period photo, and I guess that I am just getting a bit fed up with people who seem to think that I am too stupid too realise that things like glasses, hair ties and nose studs are not historically accurate.  There are quite a few perfectly period photos in my gallery, so if that is what you are looking for, please look at those.

From now on I think it may be neccessary to post any not totally historically accurate pictures with a disclaimer - **YES, I DO KNOW THAT NOT ALL ASPECTS OF THIS PHOTO ARE TOTALLY HISTORICALLY ACCURATE! THANK YOU!**  What do you think?? :P

To be honest if people wanted to be picky why not comment about a modern embroidery hoop being shown in a WIP shot of some of my embroidery as well??  That's also not very authentic!

And breathe.  Rant over.

I just needed to get that out!!  It has just been frustrating me recently, and when looking through other photos in the period/historical category I see a lot of silly similar remarks on other peoples photos, and it is annoying!!  Lots of time and effort went into making these costumes/embroidery, and we can not always get a photo that is totally accurate of the period.  So, just deal with it!

I should probably add this is not directed at anyone in particular, I am just a wee bit fed up with one to many stupid pointless comments.
