And it finally looks more hood like! All hemmed and pinned into place, now to just stitch it up at the back :)

A Jorvik hood made from linen and embroidered with silk thread. It is also lined with linen. Embroidery is based on the acanthus vine pattern from a Mammen find, and the hood will be part of a Viking outfit.

The emboidered pattern is very fine, but I think it would be no great difficulties with removing glasses and hide some background plastics - and the image would taste much better.
Regards!

Thank you. It was just a quick snap shot I had taken to see how well the hat fitted, as I was excited to have it finished after many days of stitching. I happened to like the picture so thought I would share. I fully intend to get some more authentic looking pictures once the entire outfit is completed, but as yet, I have more items that need to be finished. I am also not a photographer, and do not really care that there may be things in the background, or the fact I am wearing glasses, as the photo was never intended to look like I was in costume at the time, just to show the embroidery. I'm sorry this offends you. Better pictures will follow from the events it will be worn to, where you will be glad to hear there will be no glasses or nose studs and hopefully a more period looking backdrop, which I hope will better suit your 'tastes' :)

Perhaps "offended" is saying too much, and I am sure you will look great in your costume! :)
I admire your work - once I've tried to make a piece of brick stitch and it nearly exceeded my capacity... It is perhaps one of the most time consuming handicrafts ever invented!

Thank you.

The information for the embroidery came from here - [link] . You should definitely try it :) It stitched up quite quickly once you got going.
